Ivar grew up in south-east Norway. Prior to studying architecture, he attended mountaineering school and studied engineering and traveled extensively in Asia and South America. He received his masters in architecture from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in summer 2013. In 2012, Ivar worked as a Project Architect for Studio Mumbai Architects in Alibag, India. His drawings, models and workspace were exhibited at Studio Mumbai’s ‘Praxis’ exhibition at the Toto Gallery Ma in Japan and at the ‘Wunderkammer’ exhibition during the 2012 Venice Biennale. Between 2013-2015, he has been working for Haworth Tompkins in London on theater and refurbishment project. Ivar is currently setting up his new design and making studio, Verk Arkitektur with his partner Heather McVicar on his family farm outside Oslo.
